Pediatric Gynecologic Conditions: A Series of Short Discussions.
- Authors
Mussey, Elizabeth
- Abstract
This article focuses on pediatric gynecologic conditions. Girls less than 15 years of age, who make up only a small portion of the practice of most gynecologists, are usually referred because of a problem either in diagnosis or in management. On study, many of the complaints prove to be due not to serious disease but to represent only minor departures from normal genital development or function. Most of the common conditions can usually be managed satisfactorily by the physician who is familiar with the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive organs from birth to maturity, and who has the skill and patience to use the simple equipment needed to carry out adequate examination.
