Resisting Dehumanization: Ruth, Tamar, and the Quest for Human Dignity.
- Authors
M., JULIANA; M., CLAASSENS
- Abstract
In the article, the author discusses preserving human dignity as seen in the narratives of Ruth and Naomi in the Book of Ruth, as well as Tamar in the Book of Genesis in the Bible. She claims that the Bible women acted smartly to resist the narrow confines of the patriarchal system that does not always respect the dignity of women. The opinions of feminist scholars Phyllis Trible and Esther Fuchs on the topic are also cited.
