- Title
Toward a United States of Health: Implications of Understanding the US Burden of Disease.
- Authors
Koh, Howard K.; Parekh, Anand K.
- Abstract
The authors offer a commentary on the findings of the 2016 edition of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study that rank countries through a comprehensive set of health and disease measures, which includes a focus on U.S. and state health outcomes (1990-2016). Topics covered include the decline in age-standardized death rates and years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLLs), and ways by which the results of GBD 2016 can motivate clinicians and policy makers.
