- Abstract
The article discusses the study which examines within-brood and population sex ratio variation in Bearded Tits Panurus biarmicus and investigate the effect and timing of breeding and brood size. Researchers use sex differentiation, based upon bill colour, to assess brood sex ratios to most bird species in the nest without the use of a genetic marker. The study discovered that there was no indication of a relationship between brood sex ratio and average nestling condition of a brood as there was no relationship between average residual body mass and the proportion of sons in a brood.
