Abstract
The article examines the life and work of the artist Félix González-Torres. Particular focus is given to his involvement in the art collective Group Material, which was founded during the AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) crisis in the U.S. Additional topics discussed include activism in art in the late-20th century, ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) and insights on what inspired González-Torres' work.
