- Abstract
The article discusses a research study on astigmatid mites (Arachnida: Acari) in association with three ant species of Hymenoptera: Formicidae from Saudi Arabia. Collected from residential areas were seven colonies of M. niloticum ants, 11 colonies of T. simrothi and 4 colonies of Me. meridionalis from an agricultural area in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) then mites species were studied microscopically and examined taxonomically. Results showed deutonymphs of three mite species including Forcellina egyptiaca, Histiostoma sammari and Cosmoglyphus barbisetus. Conclusions indicated important factors in mites population dynamics including climatic conditions, mite tolerance of African bees and different Varroa genotypes.
