- Abstract
The article presents historical information on the 19th century Jewish American Lauer family of Modoc County, California, taken from an interview with Raymond Lauer. Details are given highlighting the life of the family patriarch and the interviewee's grandfather Emanuel Lauer, citing his first arrival and settlement in the area. Accounts of several decedents of Emanuel are included, such as Isaac, Max and Julius. The various businesses, social clubs and religious organizations which the Lauer family participated in are also listed.
