- Abstract
A biography of Hanna Henriques Blum, wife of Los Angeles, California's third Rabbi, Abraham Blum, is presented. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a descendant of the De Sola family. The Blums were married in 1871 in Galveston, Texas and had two children. In 1889, they came to Los Angeles where Abraham led Congregation B'nai B'rith where she served as principal of the religious school. Blum was also the first rebbitzen, or wife of a Rabbi, to assume an active role in Synagogue life.
