- Abstract
The article reports on the oblique imagery in GIS and mapping activities. Oblique imagery is a modern approach wherein oblique and vertical imagery are combined. It produces 3D digital maps which can be interfaced with geographic information Systems (GIS) database and fly-through analysis and measurements. It is composed of acquisition subsystem, processing subsystem, and applications subsystem. Oblique imagery does not need wire-frame building model in providing 3D model that can be used for other applications. It is also important in emergency management, law enforcement, homeland security, tax assessment, engineering, insurance, and real estate.
