- Title
Call for immediate test of avian flu contingency plans.
- Abstract
The article reports on the development of Exercise Hawthorn that aims to review the government's contingency plans for a national outbreak of avian influenza in Great Britain. A letter written by the Shadow minister for agriculture Jim Paice states that the project will not take place until after the spring migration of birds. Paice urged Margaret Beckett, Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to conduct an immediate test for avian flu contingency plans.
