An essay is presented in which the author argues that Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges would not have been as successful a writer were it not for the Jewish Holocaust, or Shoah, perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II. Topics discussed include Borges' attitudes towards censorship, the ways in which personal experience impacted the writing of Borges, and the political beliefs of Borges.
