- Abstract
This article raises several questions concerning the use of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) as a model for other countries, including Colombia. The details of the Gugulethu Seven incident in Cape Town, South Africa that led to the assassination of seven young activists are presented. This incident resurfaced through the TRC process and became a symbol of reconciliation and forgiveness in 2000. TRC is comprised of a mechanism that recognize experiences of harm and suffering during the apartheid.
