PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
Abstract
The article reports on the resolution of the legal case of the Exxon Shipping Company vs. Grant Baker. In the case the U.S. Supreme Court held that maximum punitive damages should be equal to that of compensatory damages and as a result, reduced damages against Exxon for the spilling of millions of gallons of crude oil which was caused by the Exxon Valdez.
