- Abstract
Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a rare tumor of the vascular endothelium that is considered to be a low-grade malignant tumor, intermediate between hemangioma and angiosarcoma. Usually the soft tissue is involved and less commonly: bone, liver and lung. The diagnosis is essentially histopathologic, with epithelioid aspect of endothelial cells and tendency to form vascular channels. Local excision of the tumor with a cut-off of normal tissue and careful follow-up of the patient is the accepted procedure, along with thorough search of metastases or multifocal lesions. Histology and immunohistochemistry are essential for the diagnosis. Cutaneous primary involvement is rare, with very few cases described. The case of a male patient with digital cutaneous epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is described and a revision of the medical literature is presented.
