- Abstract
The article examines the issues of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) involving the use of advanced assisted reproductive technologies, including three-party in vitro fertilization (IVF), as a drug and biologic. Also cited are the FDA's authority to regulate technologies like three-party IVF, cloning, and stem cells, as well as the need by researchers and practitioners to complete an investigational new drug (IND) application with respect to three-party IVF.
