The article discusses the banning of books in schools in the U.S. with reference to an individual's right to say or write anything irrespective of its moral or social implications, mentioned in the First Amendment to the US. Constitution. It highlights a report by PEN American Center on book banning in the nation in 2016, which found disproportionate representation of book about people of color or with disabilities and LGBTQ individuals.
