- Title
Therapeutic Riding--An Overview.
- Abstract
The article discusses therapeutic riding, which is defined as a mounted activity, such as horse riding, that is conducted by a North America Riding for the Handicapped Association certified instructor. Typical therapeutic riding sessions consist of short duration lessons that build basic horsemanship skills like grooming in addition to riding. The benefits of the instruction are increased left/right differentiation, better body awareness, and an improvement in gross and fine motor skills.
