- Abstract
Fourteen wild (W) and cultivated (C) seed samples from nine Onosma species were collected in various climate zones and were analyzed for contents of neutral lipids (NL) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The species O. tanaitica (C and W), O. rigidum (W), and O. simplicissima (W) had the richest contents of NL (from 17.5 to 20.5%) and PUFAs (from 74 to 80%). The compositions of NL, polar lipids, and several lipophilic constituents of seeds of wild O. simplicissima growing in the Republic of Bashkortostan were determined. Six NL classes and the contents and compositions of tocopherols (18.2 mg/100 g of seeds) and sterols (77.5 mg/100 g) were identified in seeds of the species. The main constituent of the tocopherols was γ-tocopherol; of the sterols, ∆-5-avenasterol.
