- Abstract
This was confirmed to be an intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma by Sestamibi, parathyroid hormone wash, and eventually histopathology. gl The patient proceeded to elective left hemi-thyroidectomy. The typical parathyroid autofluorescence allows for clear visualization of the otherwise invisible intrathyroidal parathyroid. gl Intrathyroidal parathyroid adenomas are rare and account for less than 1% of cases of primary hyperparathyroidism. It is noticeable that the naked eye could not depict the parathyroid adenoma even once the thyroid and associated parathyroid gland were completely exposed on the bench.
