The article discusses the June 18, 1815 Battle of Waterloo fought near Waterloo, Belgium between French forces led by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte against the allied forces of Great Britain led by General Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, and the Prussian forces led by field marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher. It considers the impact of the battle, which marked an end of the Napoleonic Wars, on European history.
