- Abstract
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the causes and frequency of urological functional loss, as well as disability rates among patients admitted to the health board. Materials and Methods: Between January 2016 and December 2020, 3074 people who applied to XXX Hospital urology health board were included in the study. People were grouped according to the reason for applying to the health board, including home care, tax reduction, disability pension, status report, report objection, age determination, nursing home application and evaluations for the security forces. Urological diseases were collected under the headings of upper urinary system diseases, uro-oncological diseases, neuro-urological diseases and andrological diseases. Age, gender, proportions of healthy and sick persons, and disability rates were recorded for each group. Results: The mean age of the people included was 42.1 ± 19.8 years and the majority were men (76.3%). A total of 1056 people (34.4%) were diagnosed with a urological disease. Neuro-urological diseases were detected in 367 patients (11.9%), and they were the most common disease group. The second most common disease group is neurological diseases (8.1%). Bladder cancer was the most common (42.6%) uro-oncological disease and testicular cancer was the least (14.3%). Prostate cancer stands out as the disease that causes the most loss of function among uro-oncological diseases with an average disability rate of 36.6 ± 28.6. Conclusion: Neuro-urological and andrological diseases are the most common urological diseases in patients who applied to the health board. The highest disability rates are observed in uro-oncological and neuro-urological diseases, respectively.
