- Abstract
A large number of studies have emphasized the importance of the issues Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from the point of view of strategic management. However, gaps persist in how much Sustainability and CSR can be effectively integrated with existing business processes and little attention has been given to the ways that companies try to position them in their organizational structure and reflect them in their own norms and values. Thus, this article aims to analyze the literature on performance indicators within the field of sustainability and CSR. Which is a particularly important issue, since without a clear understanding of the strategic benefits that may come to the organization in terms of these actions, it is likely that many investments in this field could be declined. The different approaches explored in the article indicate beyond social and environmentally friendly companies or guidelines for implementing these procedures. A closer look can drive to identify some important features, the main one being that the reports whose initiatives are focused on results require procedures formally documented and are often strictly business-oriented private companies. On the other hand, initiatives that are focused on participation process, continuous improvement and learning processes are more widely distributed.
