- Abstract
The aim of this project is to select micropig from Binlang breed (Lanyu 400) tomeet the requirements of biomedical research and biotechnology industry. A total of 28 healthy weaned Binlang pigs (18 males and 10 females) with similar body weights (6.0±0.8 kg) were chosen. They were divided into two groups: the control group (fed with standard commercial feed; T24) and the experimental group (LabDiet; 5081, 5082). Throughout the experiment, feed and water were provided ad libitum daily based on their body weight. Hie experiment concluded when the pigs reached one year of age. The results showed that the average body weight of the pigs in the control group fed with standard commercial feed was significantly higher at 5 months and one year of age (P < 0.05 and P < 0.0001) compared to the experimental animal feed group. In summary, by feeding the experimental animal feed until one year of age, the expected average body weight is below 36.7 kg.
