Based on an analysis of female violence in three of Lope's plays (El amigo por fuerza, La serrana de la Vera and Las dos bandoleras), and particularly on its distinctive dramatic treatment and functional value, this article aims to limit its importance as the basis of the presumed feminism of those three works.
