The article analyzes the 1980 film "Heaven's Gate" directed by Michael Cimino. Particular focus is given on the representation of immigrants in the film, which was based on the 1893 Johnson County War in Wyoming and concentrates on how the Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) conspired to murder immigrant farmers who were considered a threat to the free grazing land enjoyed by ranchers.
