- Title
Tumor Complexity Prompts Caution About Sequencing.
- Authors
Beckman, Mary
- Abstract
The article reports on caution about sequencing tumors due to their complexity . Geneticists are opposing the $1.5 billion plan on sequencing the genomes of brain, lung, and ovarian cancer in an attempt to find all the mutations in cancer. Critics argue that creating genome atlas is not efficient use of resources in an uncertain research area, adding that silent mutations account only 0.2% of all cancer cells. Another critic spending too much and suggests on using resources on other studies.
