- Abstract
The article examines the complication brought about by irinotecan, a semisynthetic derivative of camptothecin requiring bioactivation to and from the active metabolite 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycampthothecin, to a 43-year-old man diagnosed with a sigmoid carcinoma and liver metastasis. Irinotecan was given to the patient to cure his disease progression while receiving the capecitabine. But the result was an acute dysarthria was developed at the completion of the patient's first infusion of irinotecan.
