- Authors
Carlsen, Melody A.
- Abstract
This article focuses on the Census of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists. It explores the extent and nature of health benefits fraud/abuse occurring via employer-sponsored health plans, as well as what is being done about it in the U.S. Altogether, 54 percent of the respondents believe that health insurance fraud contributes either moderately or greatly to rising health care costs. A 59 percent majority who indicate that the group health plans they represent have initiated efforts to identify/track actual or potential fraudulent activities demonstrates congruency.
