The author discusses microbiome, the perception of it as being a cause of infections and future possibility of it being modified to treat health conditions referred to as microbiome therapeutics. He gives an overview of ineffectiveness of probiotics in treating chronic diseases suggesting need for fecal transplant (FT) with multi-strain bacteria citing Canada's use of FT to treat Clostridium difficile (CD) infection. He also touches upon role of microbiome in diabetes, obesity and metabolism.
