- Title
Flow and Transport Phenomena through Heterogenous Media in Groundwater Systems.
- Authors
Yakirevich, Alexander; Sorek, Shaul
- Abstract
Groundwater is a vital source of drinking water, irrigation, and industrial processes, particularly in arid regions. However, human activities have led to the degradation of groundwater quality, making it essential to protect and manage this resource. Understanding the flow and transport processes in heterogeneous aquifers is crucial for decision-making and sustainable water development. This article discusses the complexity of investigating flow and transport in aquifers and introduces a special issue that covers various topics related to groundwater dynamics, including well hydraulics, contamination protection, parameter estimation, integrated management, and environmental impact assessment. The papers in this special issue provide valuable insights into groundwater studies and contribute to a better understanding of aquifer behavior and efficient utilization.
