- Title
"An Encyclopedic Pico della Mirandola"? Rethinking Aquinas on Christ's Infused Knowledge.
- Authors
LIM, JOSHUA H.
- Abstract
This article explores the debate surrounding Thomas Aquinas' understanding of Christ's infused knowledge. Some scholars argue that this knowledge allows Christ to communicate supernatural truths in his earthly ministry, while others believe it is unnecessary. The article argues that the infused knowledge is necessary for Christ's role as the source of grace and the head of the Church. It discusses different interpretations of Aquinas' doctrine, including the argument from perfection and the earthly utility account. The text also explores the idea that Christ's infused knowledge is necessary for his mission as the perfect revealer of God and as a prophet. Aquinas' doctrine is grounded in his broader Christology and metaphysical principles.
