- Title
The Bishop in the Bedroom: Witnessing Episcopal Sexuality in an Age of Reform.
- Authors
MCLAUGHLIN, MEGAN
- Abstract
The article focuses on the history of sexual behavior of Catholic bishops. Particular attention is given to bishops' sexual behavior in the 11th and 12th century and the Church's efforts to reform their bishops' behavior. Cardinal Bishop Peter Damian discussed the sexual misconduct of his fellow bishops in two different works, such as his treatise against sodomy amongst the clergy in the book "Gomorrhian Book." The article examines parts of the biography, or vita, of Bishop Lietbert of Cambrai (1051-1076) and Bishop Godfrey of Amiens (1104-1115).
