- Abstract
An essay on comparison of secular and Christian ascent by author SØren Kierkegaard is presented. Author discusses human association with God and ascending with climbing and praying to God. Author also discusses the ladder of sufferings goes through the aesthetic and ethical stages and climbed through the religious suffering to Christian suffering. Author also discusses Christian suffering as voluntary and imitative and relates it with the decision to pursue Christ. Author further discusses God's governance through Christian suffering and its requirement in imitation of Christ to seek forgiveness and grace.
