- Abstract
This study aimed at presenting immigrant families' point of view to contribute to facilitate communication between themselves and Canadian teachers. Many studies have documented the difficulties met by those two major actors in children education. We thus decided to tackle the subject in a more positive way since our exploratory study examined possible solutions suggested by immigrant families living in Alberta. Our data analysis rests on the bioecosystemic approach, which allows us to categorize the solutions offered by our participants according to the different systems included in the model to possibly guide their implementation. Ten parents participated in a focus group organized to allow them to express their opinions. Our results showed that the participants suggested quite a number of positive ideas, some of which are easy to implement. Our discussion will focus mainly on the way to implement our participants' suggestions.
