- Abstract
This paper aims to shed some light at the Paralympic Games development, that came from a modest start and ended up, with no doubt, as the most important sports event for people with disabilities, and as the second major sports event in terms of number of athletes and countries. We also want to reflect about the Paralympic Games changes, and in consequence changes in sport for people with disabilities, and in disability issue itself, throughout history and draw parallels with the Critical Disability Studies development, taking as an example of these changes the O Globo Paralympic Games' media coverage from 1996 to 2016.
