- Abstract
This article intends to look into the prescriptions found in the discourse of the campaign "Esporte para Todos (Sports for All)" (EPT), which arose in Brazil after 1973, permeated by philosophical premises that proposed the democratization of physical activities and sports. The implementation of EPT was motivated by several international influences. It also coincided with a period in which the national circumstances suggested the military regime decline. The goal of EPT was to conduct the population's behavior, promulgating leisure and recreation-oriented sports practices. This movement aimed to establish a policy directed at the constitution of useful and obedient bodies. At that moment, the ostentation of spontaneity and autonomy was an efficient strategy for social control.
