Pure titanium as an alternative material in restorative dentistry.
- Authors
Küpper, H.
- Abstract
The article discusses the application of pure titanium in restorative dentistry. Pure titanium is characterized with great biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, neutral taste and low price. In terms of dental use, titanium is said to have small coefficient of thermal expansion and low heat transmission. Restorative procedures that utilize titanium include wax modeling, construction of the muffle and titanium casting and ceramic. The author claims that although problems still arise when using titanium, pure titanium can be an alternative material for operative dentistry.
