- Abstract
The article provides a literary criticism of the Korean novella "A Day in the Life of Kubo the Novelist," ("Sosŏlga Kubo Ssi ŭi iril") by Pak T'aewŏn, and the Irish novel "Ulysses," by James Joyce. The author compares the ways in which the author's utilize the theme of maternal love and how it relates to the main characters' search for happiness and empathy.
