- Abstract
The book review discusses "Carroll, Baum, Barrie. (Mito)biografie i (mikro)historie" by Maciej Skowera, which explores the position of classical children's literature in culture and the construct of childhood. Skowera uses the concept of mythobiography and microhistory to analyze the lives of Lewis Carroll, L. Frank Baum, and J. M. Barrie, the creators of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the Oz series, and Peter Pan and Wendy, respectively. The book examines the myths and speculations surrounding these authors and their works, as well as the influence they have had on later artists. Skowera also explores the infantilization and adultification of these classic characters in contemporary adaptations and re-narrations. The review suggests that the book provides a rich context for understanding the evolution of childhood and the boundaries between childlike and adult themes in children's literature.
