MAIZED AND CONFUSED: HOW PESTICIDE REGULATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES AND BRAZIL ARE FAILING TO PROTECT MAIZE CROPS IN THE FACE OF CLIMATE CHANGE.
- Authors
CORTESY, KATHERINE
- Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of climate change on maize production and the regulations in place to address this issue in the U.S. and Brazil. It is reported that climate change has caused changes in temperature, moisture, pests, and diseases, leading to smaller harvests and increased pesticide usage, which in turn creates a higher risk of food-borne illness. It is further reported that maize is the highest-produced grain globally and is a major source of calories for millions of people.
