- Abstract
This paper examines the competing narratives of military and national newspapers on the life and service of Zeke Bonura, a World War II hero turned professional baseball player. Topics covered include characterization of Bonura as an undereducated slugger in national newspapers while military newspapers depicted him as a hero who brought good cheer to the troops in North Africa, and synthesis of the competing narratives of Bonura's life and service.
