The article focuses on a research related to genesis of the Sinian solid bitumen and its significance for hydrocarbon accumulation in the Anyue Gas Field of the Sichuan Basin in China. Topics discussed include characteristics of different generations of bitumen and the genesis; core and thin-section observation and organic geochemical testing of bitumen of two epochs; and multi-stage fluid charging in Sinian reservoir and destruction of early ancient oil reservoirs.
