- Abstract
The article attempts an objective evaluation of the life and political views of Eduard Goldstücker (1913-2000), a Jewish Czechoslovakian, Germanist, diplomat, and functionary of the Communist party. Biographical data are presented first to reconstruct his life's development, supplemented by interviews. The details of his two immigrations to England, the first time because of the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, and then his return to his home city of Prague are also discussed. Also dealt with is his autobiography entitled "Prozesse: Erfahrungen eines Mitteleuropäers", which was told from his perspective as an exile.
