- Abstract
The article highlights Louisiana's collateral source rule that allows tort victims to recover full compensatory damages from tortfeasors irrespective of payments received from a third party for those same damages. It highlights challenges during the application of the collateral source rule occurs when the victim's healthcare provider accepts a discounted payment from the collateral source to satisfy the debt for the tort victim's medical expenses.
