The article focuses on research by marine biologists from Occidental College, University of California in Santa Barbara and the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management which examined marine life at 16 oil platforms off the coast of southern California ranging from 45-100 meters tall over periods between five and 15 years. Topics covered include seas and oceans where fish habitats have been studied and examples of renewable energy-generating structures.
