- Abstract
This paper attempts to characterize Behavior Analysis (Experimental Analysis of Behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis) such as they have been developed in the United States and Latin America during the second part of the XXth century and during this current XXIth century. In this context, several factors are presented to explain the rejection or the little appeal of behaviorism may have, that is, the mentalistic cultural biases, the isolation of Behavior Analysis from psychological community, the possible insufficiency of the principles of conditioning to explain human behavior, and the research practices of behavior analysts. Some of the limitations of Applied Behavior Analysis as a technological proposal for the assessment and intervention of several psychosocial human problems are also analyzed. Finally, the need of a continued effort to build a naturalistic science of behavior that is empirically founded is considered.
