The article focuses on economy of Yakama Reservation and reveals historical information about a transitional period of American Indian history. It mentions record of the continued central role of women in the Yakama economy and historic lifeways in spite of government interference in tribal lives. It also mentions analysis of horse purchases alone because of the importance of horses to life in Columbia Plateau Indian Country and bills of sale.
