Nicht zum alten Eisen: Ein linearer, zweifach koordinierter, ionischer FeI ‐ Komplex (siehe Schema) mit Spin S=3/2 im Grundzustand weist eine große Energiebarriere für die Magnetisierungsumkehr von Ueff=226 cm−1 auf und zeigt eine langsame magnetische Relaxation ohne angelegtes Magnetfeld. Die Synthese von Komplexen mit solchen Eigenschaften stellt eine Voraussetzung für die praktische Anwendung von molekularen Magneten dar.
