- Abstract
The article discusses the business aspects of publishing from the perspective of prospective authors. Topics include the relationship between publishers and authors, economic aspects of book proposals, and the costs of book publishing. Also noted are differences between trade publishers and academic or scholarly publishers, the role of a book series in the work of an acquisitions editor, and factors involved in the exhibition of books at academic conferences. It is said that editors wish to make contact with academic practitioners at such conferences.
