The article focuses on the proposal to reject the name Potamogeton dimorphus from family Potamogetonaceae. There are three species of Potamogeton found in North and Central America which differ in size and shape of leaves and fruits. Potamogeton deversifolius has floating leaves with a larger lamina whereas Potamogeton bicupulatus have smaller lamina. The stipules of both species are shorter.
